The Junior Underwriter/Loan Assistant is responsible for reviewing loan files for adherence to Princeton Mortgage standards. Duties include the processing of requested loan changes and limited signing authority of specialized documents (i.e. appraisals). This role may also serve as a point of contact between inside sales staff, inside processors, senior underwriters, and the broker processor/loan officers. This can be a demanding job, but the reward is huge personal and professional growth, with the chance to be part of something amazing!

Responsibilities

 

  • Maintain a consistent process for following-up on loans requiring further review, corrected documents, and loan change requests

  • Communicates with internal loan officers, processors, underwriters, and broker to relay loan status and answer questions via phone or video message

  • Clear conditions within established authority

  • Reviews submitted documents for accuracy and completeness

  • Convert and sort documents in Encompass, as submitted from internal sales/processors external vendors or brokers

  • All other duties as assigned by the VP of Credit and Underwriting

 

Qualifications

 

Note: Our ideal candidate has mortgage experience as described below, but we’re willing to relax the mortgage related qualifications for the right person with a passion for learning.  We hire for culture fit and innate ability first, technical skills second.

 

  • Minimum 1-year of relevant mortgage experience (i.e. loan setup or processing)

  • Knowledge of basic mortgage vocabulary and loan documents

  • Intermediate computer/internet skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities at once

  • Willingness to learn and be coached

  • Self-motivated and team player

  • Willingness to work until the job is done
